System Engineer II - Interactive Video Operations (IVO) Tier 4

The Interactive Video Operations (IVO) Tier 4 team is responsible for daily maintenance and operational tasks required to deliver best quality video experiences to our customers all the time. We specialize in streaming interactive and session-based video content to a base of 18 million customers, fulfilling billions of Videos on Demand (VOD) and Switched Digital Video (SDV) sessions each year.

The IVO Tier 4 System Engineer II is a mid-level technical position focusing on independent execution of day-day operational tasks needed to ensure overall system performance exceeds customer expectations. The System Engineer II will have direct responsibilities and accountability for quickly identifying service impairments and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to repair immediately. Additionally, the System Engineer II will have responsibilities for the preparation and accurate deployment of standard system changes during approved timeframes.

Completion of technical certifications and promotion to System Engineer III can be accomplished within 12-18 months. A measure of our success is your success!

  • Execute daily system health checks, document results, take necessary actions to remediate and escalate of any persistent system impairments
  • Active surveillance of system performance tools, independently take actions to remediate detected impairments and escalation of any persistent system impairments
  • Ticket tracking, documentation and closure
  • Active leadership with technical troubleshooting, isolation, mitigation actions and required escalations if needed
  • Review method of procedures (MOP) and independently execute deployment of required system changes during approved timeframes
  • Active engagement and focus on developing technical skillsets including:
  • Use of various internal support systems to track and report status of activities
  • Session based Video delivery systems including Video on Demand (VOD) and Switched Digital Video (SDV)
  • Use of various vendor provided user interfaces to manage and administer applications
  • IP and networking fundamentals
  • Redhat and Linux operating systems and Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Storage technologies and management
  • Fundamentals of Cloud technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two (2) years working experience with computer systems administration
  • Positive, professional attitude and a demonstrated desire and aptitude to continuously develop technical skillsets
  • Basic understanding and working experience with some or all of the Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc )
  • Working experience with session-based video technologies
  • Basic understanding and experience with writing and executing scripts
  • Working experience in developing, reading and executing standard process flowcharts
  • Understanding and / or working experience with data analysis
