£23k - £24k THEN take over current Production Manager next year - salary increases to £27k - £28k South West based office Friendly environmentWe are working with a Timber and cladding manufacture and distributor based in the South West who are on the look out for a Production Assistant (AKA Operations Assistant) Who will then take over the role of Production Manager next year. What you ll be doing To assist in all aspects of the application of fire-retardant chemicals and similar associated treatments and services to timber and allied products in accordance with manufactures recommendations. Become fully conversant with machine operation whilst complying with all relevant Health and Safety recommendations. Assist and become fully competent in all aspects of product delivery, process application, packaging and dispatch. Assist in Manufacturing of pallets and spacer racks as and when required. To be responsible for housekeeping in the production area, also to include the spray machine, measuring equipment and associated tools. Perform a daily and weekly routine maintenance to machines and drying racks. Where possible problem solve and report any issues which arise. Attend weekly debrief with Production Manager to report job progress, highlight any areas of concern or maintenance requirements and offer relevant input and feedback. To oversee and maintain production & also to supervise additional staff in the absence of the Production Manager. To undertake any relevant training as and when required by the company. Take a proactive approach to the implementation of good working practices. You may be requested to work additional hours during busy periods.What you ll need A minimum of 5 GCSE s including English Literature, English Language, Maths A good understanding and proficiency in Microsoft Office - MS Word, Excel, Access Able to multi task and meet strict deadlines Confidence to use own initiative and problem solve. Ability to work as part of a team Have a logical mathematical mind Confident in talking to other team members, transport companies, potential clients, ISO auditors Excellent organisation skills together with flexibility Ideally have a clean driving licence Forklift trained or willing to undergo trainingWhat you ll get The starting salary for the right candidate will be £23-24,000 with a review at six months and annually thereafter and also include Bonus scheme 4 weeks holiday - 20 days plus statutory public holidays or pro rata over a 4 day working week Contributory Pension scheme Private Health Insurance and other staff benefits Normal hours - Monday through Thursday.
