A 3 months+ opportunity for an Health and Safety Advisor has arisen with the local authorities in Wembley. Currently the role is hybrid with a minimum of 1 day per week office based, the rest remotely. More office attendance may be required according to service needs. There is likely to be infrequent travel to some remote sites within the London Borough of Brent and perhaps beyond. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To support the Health & Safety Manager and Senior Health & Safety Advisor in providing efficient and effective health and safety and fire safety service to schools and corporate directorates. To ensure North Somerset Council staff engage in health & safety and fire safety management systems and fully understand their responsibilities to ensure legal compliance thus safeguarding staff, service users, pupils, members of the public and visitors. As a Health and Safety Advisor you will perform health & safety and fire safety professional and technical functions including providing advice, carrying out inspections, audits, assessment, training courses, incident investigation and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and North Somerset Council policies and proceduresSkills and Experience: NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate would be desirable. Accident Investigations H&S Inspections Providing H&S advice Excellent communications skills to ensure complex aspects of health and safety can be communicated to all colleagues Experience of training a wide range of staff on technical subjects Ability to make judgements on the relative severity of activity, equipment, function or buildings Good organisational and logistical skills Ability to work alone and be self-motivated Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively Experience of liaising with enforcing authorities is desirable Ability to manage/organise own work to meet agreed deadlines Understanding and recognition of professional boundariesHours of work are 9am till 5pm, 36 hours per week, monday to Friday.
