We are hiring a Director of Presidential Communications to join our University Communications & Marketing Team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing communications and content strategies for the president of the University, ensuring the effective alignment of presidential communications and institutional messaging across multiple platforms. The role of the Director of Presidential Communications is intended for an advanced communications professional who will review work discreetly on sensitive or delicate assignments while exercising sound editorial judgment and maintaining the trust and confidence of the president, senior executives, and their staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represents the image and interests of the University president in all written, published, formal, and semi-formal public and media communications, including community outreach, speeches, presentations, statements, video scripts, campus communications, and social media content.
  • Understands and hones the president s voice to be able to flawlessly ghostwrite for the leader.
  • Plans and implements crisis communications.
  • Collaborates with the Director of External Communications on public statements and media outreach.
  • Reviews and approves communications from other areas that involve the president s voice.
Qualifications
  • 4-year college degree in English, journalism, public relations, or corporate communications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting executive communication strategies, including substantial experience developing and executing upon strategic communications strategies that align with organization and executive leaders goals
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to think strategically and visually map out communication plans
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong expertise in AP Style
  • Professional demeanor and ability to positively influence at the executive and C-suite levels
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work well and productively alone and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal communications, grammatical and writing skills, and the ability to tailor content to a specific audience
  • Strong understanding of editorial standards and channel effectiveness principles
  • Ability to deliver effective presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Highly motivated and able to lead and influence
  • Able to make critical decisions and take accountability for results
  • Comfort level with reviewing work and providing constructive critiques and coaching to executives
