Southwire Job Description

Southwire is seeking a Business Unit Controller to manage the finance activities within our Assembled Solutions business.  The Assembled Solutions business is one of three Business Units which comprise our Tools, Components and Assembled Solutions (TCAS) Division at Southwire. This Business Unit is rapidly growing and advancing in various markets with a diverse product offering to include cabling solutions (data center), lighting (construction), and extension cords. 

The Business Unit Controller will be a finance professional who works well in a collaborative, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.  The successful candidate will contribute to our profitable growth by developing efficient operating processes and driving a culture of financial accountability. S/he will possess a positive attitude, be hard-working and driven with a focus on results, accountability and driving improvement and change. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in accounting and finance combined with strong leadership, influencing and teamwork skills.  
 
Key Responsibilities

    Prepare monthly analysis of financial results and identify action plans required to improve business performance   
    Thoroughly explain financial performance and key variances from budget, forecast and prior year to BU leadership team and Divisional leadership in monthly business review meetings
    Annual Budget - partner with Commercial, Product Management, and corporate functions to develop annual budget
    Own, drive, and improve the Business Unit forecasting process
    Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function to streamline workload and optimize time spent on higher value business support 
    Identify need internal controls and implement as necessary
    Develop and manage business cases and associated capital projects to support growth
    Manage month end close process and oversee balance sheet account reconciliations
    Ensure that all financial and accounting policies are consistently and accurately implemented and reported with strict adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
    Serve as a proactive and primary business partner to Product Management and Commercial teams, chart course of business growth
    Effectively manage and cultivate a team of 1-2 direct reports
    Improve upon existing SAP infrastructure and unlock potential of relevant toolsets
Qualifications and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
    MBA, Master of Accounting Degree or CPA/CMA designation preferred
    Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance in progressively responsible positions 
    Proactive and self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects under limited supervision
    Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of leadership 
    Ability to distill complex financial topics down to easily understood and actionable recommendations to improve business performance
    Customer-focused with strong attention to detail; Capable of delivering accurate, quality results in timely manner
    Exceptional problem-solving skills both individually and in a group setting
    Advanced proficiency with Excel is required; Previous Experience with SAP preferred
